Today being the 11th day of the 11th month. I hope everyone commited to two minutes silence at 11 am today. I always feel people loose sight of why we do this. People just think it's about all the lives lost during WW1. Ofcourse that is what started it, but it also applies to all the members of our Armed Forces that have given their lives to defend our country, in all the years after that.
Since WW2, there has only been one year that a member of our Armed Forces has not died in action. If all the ones who have died from WW1 until now were to be lined up. That line would run from the Cenotaph in London, all the way to Edinburgh. Thaink about that, think about how many people that would have to be, to make suck a line.
No matter what you political views may be, you cannot deny the sacrifice that our Forces have made, and continue to make on a daily basis. Again, no matter what you political views may be. They do this in your name, for your freedom, for your right to live as you do in a free democracy. Please remember what out Forces do for us, not just today, but every day. Because they do that job every day, for us.
I'll leave you with this little video. Take the time to read the text in the video. It really does describe what being a soldier is like.
As usual, I've not been on here for a while. You know what it's like, Life tends to get in the way of keeping these things up. So, what have I been up too this last while ?. Well ofcourse there was Rockness, which was brilliant as usual. I didn't take as many pic's as I usually do. Due to the fact that I couldn't find my flipping digital camera prior to going. So, I only had my mobile phone, which can take decent pic's and video. However, the battery doesn't last for four days now does it, . I did manage to get a phone off a friend when my battery eventually died on me though. But, the pic, and vid quality wasn't up to much on that one. Anyway, here are a couple of the vid's I took mashed together.
Cagedbaby
Prodigy(Note poorer quality)
I do have video of Cagedbaby in the SoCo Tent from the Friday night. Unfortunately, I was right next to the speakers, so the sound is all messed up. Which is a great shame, and I should know better. Because the tent was packed out, and the set was brilliant.
I went to EH1, in Edinburgh last weekend. It was the fist time for this event, and was run by Colours, and Streetrave. Great lineup, great choice of music for people to cjeck out. There really was something for everyone there (dance wise I mean). However, the price of booze was shocking !!. As with most festivals, you have to buy drink tokens, then take them to the bar and get your drink. At this one it was £15.00 for 4 tokens, which got you 4 drinks. That works out at £3.75 per drink, some might say that's not bad. The thing is, there were no spirits on sale (something to do with licencing). No pints of beer on sale, which is what you would usually get for a token. Instead you got 1 bottle of an alcopop, or something like 1 bottle of miller, corona for 1 token. That's about half a pint for £3.75. Now, if they have another one next year ?, I won't be going just because of the price of drink. I would go further and recommend that no one goes because of the price of drink.. Compare those prices to the ones at Rockness, Cash bar (much better), £3.45 for a pint of lager, and similer prices for spirits. You could get a pitcher of southern comfort and lemonade for £14. That's about 4 pints of southern comfort .
Also recently had a wee night out at The Arches in Glasgow. I haven't been there for over two years, due to a certain night I had there. Nothing bad, just that a friend was dj-ing there, and they hadn't promoted the night very well. So, there wasn't really many people at it. Too and insult to injury, they didn't even pay said friend, because there weren't many there ffs . That wasn't his fault, it was their's for not promoting the fecking night. Anyway, I went along to this one because I was asked to go by a good friend. It turned out to be quite a good night, but I'll be in no rush to go back there again. The Arches seems to have lost something, don't know what but it's not as good as it used to be. Maybe it's a change in management. Maybe it's just me getting older, maybe it's the crowd. Still plenty of other clubs to hit in Glasgow, so no loss there .
Anyway enough of my galavanting around. Not been up to much really, just the odd bit of work here and there. Nothing much, as I can't do any manual labour as such. It's more like helping than work really. On a personal level, my first wife's husband died recently. Despite our obvious differences, I wouldn't have wished that on her at all. They had been together for over 10 years. He was a good bit older than her, and a decent guy. Fortuantely it was all very quick really. He had liver, lung, and brain cancer. Which only came to light when he went to the doctors complaining of a bit of a sore head and chest. He was gone within 5 weeks of that visit to the doctors.
Not the first time I've seen that happen. A guy I used to work with, who was only 39 years old at the time. Went to the doctors with a bit of a sore chest. Thinking it was muscle related, because of the nature of our job. They had sent him for an exray, and discovered something on his lungs. By the time he was due to go for a further scan two weeks later, he had died.
Takes me back to when my Dad had a brain tumour. He had a stroke, they discovered the tumour, and gave him six months to live. He lasted two and half year after that. That was way back in the early 70's though. Makes you think that these type of cancers are more potent now days. Enough of the doom and gloom me thinks .
Being a staunch SNP supporter, and card carrying memeber of said political party. I'm astonished at the recent decision to release the very man convicted of the Lockerbie bombing. Now, this will have an very bad effect on the SNP chances of getting into Government again. It's been obvious though, that Westminister has been doing dodgy deals behind the Scottish Governments back, just to make them look bad.
Great news that Big Brother won't be on our screens again (for the forseable futire anyway). They say it's because of viewing figures. More like people not phoning in to vote, and them not making money out of that. Hopefully all these other silly reality shows will follow suit. Just watched Celtic get gubbed by Arsenal. Well done to Arsenal, and that's from a Celtic fan. We didn't play well at all, and deserved to get beat. But it's so painfull to watch. Such is the life of a Celtic fan .
I'll leave you with a few movies to watch out for in the future. Sorry if I've posted any of them before.
So, Gordon Brown is just about hanging on. I'm no fan of the man, but I thimk it's right that he does for the moment. It is no time to be changing Prime Minister, or to have a General Election for that matter. Remember, all these MP's that are resigning are only doing so because they have been caught claiming all sorts on expences. Not because they are dissalusioned with Gordon Brown. Personaly I feel that these MP's, should stand down now, and not at the next General Election. They are only hanging on because they will still their over inflated wages and still able to claim everything they can until they leave the job. Also the golden handshake they get from the public purse.
They are all criminals in my own opinion. If people did what they have done in any other job. They would get the sack, and possible criminal charges. I know they have all said that they have remained within the rules. But that has nothing to do with anything. Surely they know the difference between claiming something that is assisting them perform their MP duties (which is what they are allowed to claim for), and stupid things like sink plugs, gardeners, motes and all the other ridiculous things.
Anyone with an ounce of intelligence would know that it was wrong to claim such things. The other thing that has been grating me about them, is the habit of employing relatives. Doesn't it make you mad ?.
I went around to my local polling station last night to vote in the European Elections. After living in Northern Ireland for fifteen years, somewhere that you must provide I.D, before you are allowed to vote. Having said that, it may have changed in recent years.
I was amazed that I wasn't asked for any identification. So, this means that anyone can go and vote on your behalf. More to the point, anyone can go and vote if they have your polling card. Even worse is the fact that anyone with a counterfiet one can vote, and as many times as they like, (obviously with different peoples cards). They can do this if they have your electrol role number. This can be obtained from any local council.
The whole voting thing is completely open to fraudulant activity by anyone. I'm sure I will come back to that subject in the future.
On an other note. I was very saddened to hear about David Carradine dying the other day. Initial reports had it down as suicide. It know appears he was indulging in some auto-erotic asphyxiation. Which is very sad to hear indeed. I'm all for people endulging in what they want too sexualy, as long as they don't bring to harm to anyone, and it's legal. If anyone is going to take part in any auto-erotic asphyxiation ?. Then they should always do it when someone else is there. It's far too dangerous to be doing on your own.
Onto Big Brother now !!!!
I'm not a fan of this show at all. I only ever dip into it when there is nothing else on the telly. So, there I was watching some of the start of it last night. God almighty, there some bloody idiots out there, and they always seem to get on this show.. These are the worst bunch of freakish, attention seeking, wanna be, idiots that they have found to date. I really don't understand why people enjoy this show. Maybe it's just me, I don't know.
Being Scottish, I hate the fact that they always find the worst sort of Scot possible. This time is no different, with the stupid lassie they have in this year. Nothing but a gold digging numpty, who's only ambition is to hook up with some rich footballer. There isn't a normal person amoung them. They are all freaks in their own way. So please, when it comes to the voting part of the show. Don't vote at all. Even better, don't even watch the show at all. I know I won't !!!!.
Anyway, that's the moan over with for the moment . Hope everyone has a great weekend, rave safe kiddiewinks.
So, we finaly get some decent weather. Always great to see loads of people walking about with bright red arms, faces and legs. I do not exlude myself in that by the way. It's a pity it will turn more cloudy tomorrow, but I'm not complaining. It's nearly that time of year again for Rockness. So, I would rather have crappy weather from now until then. It hasn't rained there yet, apart from a little drizzle when the Chemical Brothers played the other year. Apart from that, it's been scorching every year. Yes I always end up sunburnt, but will not let it happen this year (he says, lol).
I was initialy staying in a b & b for the weekend, and going up early on the Friday morning. But, that's all changed now, I am now camping again. I promised myself after last year that I wouldn't camp again (getting too old). I'm gl'd for the weekend, and only found out last week that camping is included. So, it would be rude not to do it. Also heading up for the Thursday night now, just so a few of us can hang out before things kick off on the Friday.
Looks like it's going to be another great weekend by the Loch, partying with 35,000 other music luvin people. I will endevour to take as many pic's / videos as I can, and will upload them when I come back.
Anyway, here's my fav track of the moment. Some great remixes of it out there. Enjoy !!!!!!!!!!!
So, our politicians have been caught with their hands well and truely in the till. I know people are probably starting to get a bit fed up hearing about all this expences stuff. However, that is just want the powers that be want to happen. We all pay for their lifestyles. They are meant to be 'of, for, and by the people'. That is what a democracy is meant to be about.
It seems that this is not the case in this United Kingdom anymore. Our politicians are supposed to serve us, the people. Instead of serving themselves to every penny they can get their grubby mits on. All legal ofcourse, as they all take these pennies within the rules. Rules that have been created by themselves, for themselves.
I won't go on about all the silly claims that they have put in. Suffice to say, that they are only supposed to claim for things that assist them in serving their constituants. So, you can make your own minds up on what that constututes.
Something else to bare in mind, is the upcoming European elections. That Parliament is far more corrupt than Westminster when it comes to what MEP's can claim for. They don't even have to put in receipts for what they are claiming. Some years ago there was a big who-ha about MEP's expenses. Nothing really came of that episode, and they're still filling their pockets with our money.
So, before you go and vote for your next MEP. See if you can find pout what expenses they have put in for over the last four years. Even over the last year or so will do. I'm sure you will be shocked to find put what these people rake in. It's not as if they really do anything for us anyway is it ?. Apart from mess with our laws, usually in a bad way.
As anyone who's read some of my previous posts will know. I'm not a big fan of our politicians, and what they do (or lack there of) for us. All I can say is, if you're not happy with you MP, MSP, MLA, MEP ?. The write to them and ask them to explain themselves to you. Don't settle for a letter that fobs you off from one of their secretaries. If you're still not happy ?, go and see them at one of their local surgeries, and ask them to their faces to explain themselves. If you're still not happy ?, complain too their party leader.
They are there to serve us !!!!! Not the other way around folks.
New track 'Forced', from the very brilliant Cagedbaby. A new album coming later on in the year, hopefully not too long away. Here's the video, obviously it's the radio edit version. Pop along to Youtube, and watch it, rate 5, fav it. Thanks . You can buy it on iTunes, Beatport, and all other outlets. Great remixes by Dave Spoon, Idiotproof, Don Diablo, Foamo, and Streetlife Dj's.
Sorry I didn't update when I said I would. As usual I got distracted with other things. So, the solicitor, mmmmmmm. Tried to help, but like all solicitors, when it comes to CSA & Family Law. They tend to shy away, make out it's a specialist subject etc. There was me thinking that a solicotor deals with the law, no matter what the subject, lmfao.
Anyway, she is still looking at my paperwork, but I don't hold out much hope for any help. Infact, it seems that it would cost me almost as much as I supposedly owe, to fight just this 'Liability Order'. How mad is that ?. So, it may just turn out that I should let it go through. My only problem with that is that I am a principled sort of guy. This falls into the category, of going agaimst my priciples. By that I mean, being branded a criminal by my Government, with no valid reason. Nuff said me thinks.
Anyway, onto better things. As metioned before. I headed off down to Liverpool for a bit of a mad weekend. Got there on Friday afternoon, and arrived back last night. I went down for 'Circus' nightclub which was held @ 'Nation' in Liverpool. Circus is run by the brilliant Yousef (dj, producer, and all round great guy),
My main reason for going was to see the Southern Fried Records crew. Cagedbaby, Riva Star, Shinichi Osawa, and ofcourse Norman Cook. Suffice to say, I had a blinder of a night on Friday. Saturday was one of those lost days. You know, the ones you get when you were really hammered (in a good way), the night before'. As you can see rom these two clips. Friday was a bit of a messy night
Norman Cook, closing his set.
Cagedbaby starting his set.
Now that I am fully recovered from my travels. Time to get back to the daily grind. First off, some shopping I think foooooood now please.
