So, I've fully recovered from Rockness 2008. Yes, it was a couple of weeks ago. It takes me longer to recover from such things. Now that I am about to hit forty four years of age
. I have to say, despite all the reservations everyone had about the line up. It was one hell of a weekend.
Now that this years event is over and done with. We can all look forward to nexts years event. Which takes place on the 13th / 14th June 2009, at Dores, Inverness. The big difference about next year, is the fact that AEG (the worlds second largest event/ artist promoters) have a controling share in Rockness.
What does this mean for the event?. Well, it means that the guys that run the event, can now finaly match the pulling power of the likes of T in the park. As I understand it, AEG are happy for the guys that have been running it. To keep doing what they have been doing. So hopefully it won't get much bigger than it all ready is. 35,000 people each day, over the weekend is more than enough. Maybe put an extra day onto it, but no more than 35,000 a day.
Early Bird tickets go on sale tomorrow, for next years event. They are even doing a down payment scheme for this. All you do is pay £30.00, with a small booking fee. Then you have six months to pay the remaining ballance off in one go. No doubt there will be another booking fee added on at that stage. This will run until the end of September 2008, but may finish early if all the Early Bird tickets go before then.
Personally, I think that is a good idea. Considering it will cost you £115.00 for weekend tickets, plus camping. It gives people that chance to book their tickets, and save for the rest. This being the festival season, people don't have the spare cash to keep forking out at the moment.
So, it won't be long until people start to guess who will be appearing at next years event. Hopefully the promoters, will get their act together better than they did this year. They were terrible at announcing acts that would be playing this year. Most people found out themselves, by looking at artists Myspace pages to see if they were playing.
Anyway, I'm sure it will be another great weekend. I keep saying to myself that I'm getting too old for such events. Then I find myself buying tickets for them again, and again. Maybe next year will be my last, maybe it won't. We'll just have to wait and see I suppose.
I will ofcourse return to this topic over the next year. Here's some links for Rockness, and some pictures from this year event.
